It may be defined into two types:

1. Dry Cough

2. Sputum (bacteria or fungi that are infecting the lungs)

For Dry Cough

  • Take the hot drinks Such as tea, milk or soup. - Suck on cough lozenges.

  • Take an over-the-counter cough medicine that contains dextromethorphan


such as running of nose and very low fever etc.
Use a vaporizer or a humidifier, if possible and eat hot and spicy foods
Drink lots of liquids
Take an over- the -counter medicine (paracetamol and/ or aspirin) for relieving pain and fever.
If you have a fever, Take complete rest.
Take half a teaspoon of salt into one cup of warm water and put three or four drops each nostril several times a day.


Take a Fresh Lemon Juice
Drink lassi
Take an over-the-counter medicine, Imodium or Lomotilf
Eat small amounts of soft foods, such as cooked potatoes, yogurt and soft rice.

1st Swine Flu cases in Jordan and Qatar

Jordan and Qatar join the list of the countries affected by the Swine Flu pandemic, as they discovered 4 cases coming lately from the U.S and Austria.

Nayef Al-Fayez, the Jordanian minister of Health has declared that 2 girls have been tested positive for the H1N1 virus; both girls -aged 11 and 17- arrived from the U.S. last week.

As for Qatar, the official Qatari press agency has stated that a New-Zealand 2-year-old boy coming from Austria has tested positive for the virus last Saturday, while another American 26-months-old boy also tested positive for H1N1 coming from New York through Bangladesh.

The H1N1 virus has recently been declared a pandemic by the "WHO" (World Health Organization) after hitting several countries.

The best approach you can take is to try to avoid infection. If you do develop symptoms of swine flu, seek prompt medical attention so that you have the best chance of antiviral drugs providing you with successful treatment
