Unlike refined salt, sea salt contains the minerals and trace elements that are beneficial to our health. This includes iron, magnesium, calcium, potassium, manganese, zinc, and iodine.

You can easily duplicate that deeply relaxing ocean soak in your own home with a sea salt bath.

How to do it: Add one cup of sea salt to your empty tub. Turn on the hot water to fill, then soak. You can also add the sea salt after the tub is filled, but if you do it my way, the running water will help mix the sea salt for you.

[While dead sea salt has been heavily marketed for its added benefits, this is somewhat debatable, and regular sea salt works just as well. ]

Honey and Egg White Mask

I was going to do a step-by-step picture guide on how I make and use this mask, but I haven't been able to get any sleep lately and I pretty much look like a dead cow - so that's not going to happen, lol. I haven't done much with this series, and I feel like I should start since right now my skin needs a little pick-me-up. Now some of you may have heard about the anti-aging benefits that egg whites are said to have - like helping to lift and firm the skin. Honestly, this doesn't work miracles - duh, but it does help give a temporary fix and I like using egg whites to sort of "perk up" my skin.

Always do a skin test before using any type of home remedy on your face. And remember that I'm no organic beauty guru - I have so much to learn and I'm just sharing with you what has worked for me. We all have different skin types and different needs. What I like most about home remedies is that we can always modify it to suit our liking.

what i do:
1: Separate the egg white into a small bowl.

2: Add about 1/2 or 1 TSP. of honey with the egg white and whisk lightly.

3: When the mixture is slightly foamy, apply a thin layer on your face.

4: Wait 10-15 minutes or until the mask has dried.

5: Rinse off and continue with your daily skin care routine.

I use this about 1-2 times a week depending on my skin.
1. Sometimes I use the egg white alone to dry out my pimples overnight.
2. You can also apply a thin layer under your eyes to slightly help with puffiness.

Benefits: An egg white mask will give the skin a temproray lifted effect so that fine lines look visible and skin feels firmer. The tightness will make the pores look more refined as well. Since egg white absorbs oil, this will help with temporary oil control as well.

Instructions: Separate an egg to get only the white. Beat the egg white well until it becomes foamy. Apply a thin layer of egg white on the skin but avoid the surrounding eye and lip area. The skin around the eye and lips are thin and delicate. Leave it to completely dry and you should feel your skin becoming very tight. Remove the egg white from your face by wiping with warm damp cloth. Follow with your moisturizer.

Results: A temporary face lift looks great for occasions where you'll be needing to look your best and wear more intense make-up. Firmer skin will help foundation to glide on the skin much easier and minimize caking. The pores looked smaller due the the astringent effect and skin stays matte for several hours.

Yogurt Facial Mask - Skin Care

Benefits: Yogurt provides great moisture to the skin. It also soothes skin sensitivites, including sunburns. Lactic acid in yogurt firms and softens the skin, making skin look brighter and more glowing with less visible fine lines.

Instructions: Apply a layer of natural (full fat) yogurt on the face and let it sit for about 15 minutes. Rinse off with water and follow with toner and moisturizer.

Results: Upon application, the yogurt will immediately soothe irritated areas and give a cooling sensation. After rinsing, skin feels very soft and smooth. The hydrated feeling lingers throughout the night.

Tomato Scrub - Skin Care

Suitable for: All skin types

Benefits: Tomatoes contain Lycopene which is a type of anti-oxidant that can easily be absorbed by the skin. Anti-oxidants help protect the skin from environmental damages to reduce signs of aging. They're also great for relieving eczema. With exfoliating properties, the tomato scrub gently sloughs off dead skin cells and helps to remove blackheads.

Instructions: Slice a large ripened tomato. You'll need either the top slice or the bottom slice of the tomato. I personally prefer using the bottom as it doesn't have the stem end, which may scratch the skin (learned from experience!). Dip the inside section of the tomato pad into very fine granulated sugar or baking soda. Using the tomato slice as a cleansing pad, start exfoliating in circular motions on wet skin. Focus on the nose area if you have concerns with blackheads. After scrubbing, rinse thoroughly with water and follow with your other skin care products.

Results: There's a very refreshing sensation after scrubbing and skin looks a lot brighter and creaseless. As an eczema sufferer, using the tomato over eczema-infected areas did not aggravate the conditon. Instead, the redness is reduced and the area feels smoother and less irritated. Blackheads on the nose also looked less visible.

Honey Skin Mask - Honey Skin Care

Honey Skin Care

Suitable for: All skin types

Benefits: Honey has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that help to treat acne and reduce redness on the skin. It also moisturizes the skin, making this ideal for adult acne, which often cannot be treated by regular acne treatment products that causes dryness.

Instructions: Spread a thin layer of 100% raw or organic honey on the entire face. Using a synthetic foundation or mask brush will make this task easier. Be very sure to keep the layer thin so that the honey won't be dripping everywhere. Leave it on for about 15-20 minutes then rinse off with tepid water. Follow with toner and a light moisturizer.

Results: As soon as the honey is rinsed off, skin feels super soft without any dryness at all. Furthermore, the skin gives a subtle glow. Pimples look less angry and the redness is also reduced. There seems to be a sort of light stickiness left on the skin but it goes away after applying toner.

Egg White Mask for Oily Skin

Egg whites work great as a mask for oily skin, and do an extremely good job of tightening skin and toning open pores.

How to do it: Break a fresh egg onto a clean plate or bowl. Dip clean fingers in to get the white part and dab this onto your face. Leave to dry for 15-20 minutes and then wash off with warm water.

Papaya for Skin - Papaya Exfoliates Skin

What it does: Mashed unripe papaya applied as a face mask will remove dead, flaky skin.

How to do it: Mash some fresh papaya, unripe is better. Apply on clean skin as a mask for 20-30 minutes. Wash off with warm water.

Why it helps: Like pineapple, the enzymes in papaya (papain) is a natural BHA.

Bananas Moisturize Skin Gently

What it does: Moisturizes sensitive skin.

How to do it: Mash half of a ripe banana and apply it to clean, damp skin. Leave on for 15-20 minutes. Wash well with warm water. Repeat once a week.

Why it helps: The antioxidant vitamin A and skin-softening potassium in bananas moisturize gently.
